Dear Niel and Zandi
A massive thank you for such an insightful journey we have been on for the last two days. Along the way, I enjoyed every bit of the exploration, reflection and learning. I must say that the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains were integrated perfectly. Life is really a treadmill and I have learnt through the crucial conversations that we decide the pace. It is our attitudes that set the tone, our determination that defines our success and our inner circle that guards our heart. This workshop allows us to see mentoring differently. May you continue to touch lives and change mindsets.
PS. Looking forward to the September conversation.
Thank you very much for presenting a wonderful workshop over the last three days for the menteesand mentors in our Department. Not only did this programme equip us with the necessary tools to partake in a journey of personal and professional growth, it also acted as a wonderful team building exercise in which we could strengthen our relationships. I had a few colleagues contacting me shortly after the workshop and they shared how they really were not looking forward to attending this engagement, yet now in retrospect are so grateful they did as it was very enriching and gained so much from it.
Firstly, thank you again for such a wonderful and effective programme. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in developing their mentoring skills.
For me personally, it was great to be given a theoretical framework to work with as it will aid in giving a mentoring relationship some structure. You presented each conversation in an interesting and memorable way as like you mentioned, telling it in a story really helps one to remember it better. Your training not only helped equip me with mentoring skills, but also made me realize that I myself require a mentor because I still need to figure out my strengths, weaknesses and more.
Lastly, as mentioned before, I felt that the training was successfully done using Zoom. The fact that we all had our cameras on and still had discussions really made it feel like we were not missing out on any personal contact.
Just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for the course last week Thursday and Friday – I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt plenty. I think the materials and framework you proposed for us is going to be exceptionally useful to me going forward (the engineer in me loves some structure), but I also learnt a lot from the manner in which you communicated and introduced the topics. and I will definitely be using some of the techniques and style that you demonstrated. I thought you handled the remote setup exceptionally well and I really felt engaged, even though it was via Zoom.
I’m very grateful I was a part of this workshop. I’m going through the material again in preparation of my future sessions. The next session will be on the Johari window to ensure we both have a clear understanding of how we perceive each other as a tool for more open and understanding conversation. Changing the narrative from negative feedback to feed-forward is also a game changer. There is so much I can work with now.
Massive thank you!
Overall the workshop exceeded my expectations offering great insight and tools that will allow me to have engaging and insightful conversations with many mentees to come. Niels’ approach, pitch, practicality and management of the course was really impressive – thank you to you both. I find that the content covered will not only assist me as a mentor but definitely as a leader as well.
Thank you Neil, for a well-structured workshop. The short breaks after each topic, the breakout rooms, the safe space to have discussions. I also appreciate and like the fact that it was done in the mornings and over two days. There are too many insights to mention but for me the main ones for me… take time to reflect. How to find your why and purpose. The different types of conversations and why it is important to have them with those you lead. Overall an excellent learning experience!
This course is an excellent course and very helpful leadership conversations. I have been on previously crucial conversation course and this surpasses the one I did previously. The timeline aspect was very powerful and it has created great self awareness. The virtual online programme was delivered effectively.
The fragmented approach to the on-line modules is great, short sessions across a portion of the day allows for high levels of engagement. The pre-reading is a good approach because it frees up time during the session for meaningful discussion with Niel and colleagues. Use of stories and metaphors are great, those will not be forgotten…and I will order the ‘Raising Giant Killers’ this week.
Great course that was well structured. I enjoyed the fact that the 45 minute sessions.
were split across 3 mornings with a decent gap of 10 minutes in between. A key differentiator which cannot be ignored is the competence of Niel. He had a great way of engaging participants that made it easy to contribute to the discussions. Top marks from my side.
I found the online programme very relevant. I have a formal mentee so can go straight into practice following the course. But it is not only mentoring – it is applicable to just about every aspect of business life. The role of leading a team is the same as mentoring that team - the only difference is that some are informal and others are formal. Thank you!
Thank you once again for the great workshop. It was extremely thought-provoking, interactive and a fresh spin on mentoring/being a mentee. Definitely leaving with some gems.
